Hungarian Castles Festival in Budapest
The Hungarian Castles Festival is in the fairy tale Vajdahunyad Castle and in the spacious park in Budapest, in the City Park (Varosliget), which is one of the hotspots of Budapest attractions, like the Heroes’ Square and the Hungarian Millennial Monument, or the popular thermal bath, Szechenyi Baths.
The castle festival has a nice and fun program for all who love history, castle sieges, family events, contests, archery shows, medieval toys, foods, dances, and more.
The 2013 Castle Festival is from May 18 to May 20, 2013 in the City Park, which is also the home of the beautiful Vajdahunyad Castle. In 2013 there is not entry fee charged, you can visit the festival free of charge.
The event is called Mienk a Var! (The Castle is Ours / We are the Kings of the Castle). The Hungarian Castles Festival is basically the May Day of medieval Castles found all over in Hungary, mostly as castle ruins. Some of the more popular castles in Hungary will all be represented at the national castle showcase, like the castle in Diosgyor, the castle in the lovely wine town of Eger, the castle ruins in Esztergom in the Danube Bend, Gyula, Holloko, the village enlisted in the UNESCO World Heritage list, Koszeg, Sarospatak, Sarvar, Siklos, Somlo, Sumeg, Tata, Várpalota, or the castle of Visegrad.
