May 1 Budapest: Budapest May Day Festivals take place all over the cities and countryside in Hungary. The biggest celebrations are usually in the City Park in Budapest (Varosliget ‘Majalis’) and in the green parks on the Margaret Island (Margitsziget) with free concerts, food and drink stalls, and people playing games. It is a generally chill out day on May 1 (national holiday). Date: May 1 every year.
Buda Beer Festival is set in the green campus of the ELTE University in Lagymanyosi Campus. Student and budget friendly beer festival with lots of great beers and street foods at very affordable prices – organized by Gasztrosetany. Entry is free. Dates: May 3-4-5, 2019
Bath Parties in Budapest: March is the month when the unique Bath party nights in Budapest make the thermal bath of Szechenyi Baths lively every Saturday. Clubbing in spring water pools, one of a kind dance floor with funk, trip-hop, hip-hop, electro music. Dates: May 4, 11, 18, 25 in 2019
Horse Race Day and Food Truck Show Budapest: the horse racing festival takes place at the biggest Hungarian horse racing venue, Kincsem Park (say Kintch-em) named after an amazing Hungarian racing horse. Its 84 hectare area will be filled with thousands of guests who are interested in horse and hound races. Plus 50 street food trucks await visitors. Date: 3-4-5 May, 2019
Total Dance Festival Cabrio in Budapest: a mega retro party music festival in the event venue called Budapest Park (it is not the same as the City Park). Loads of the greatest hits from the 1990s and 2000s with big names like Fun Factory, Ice MC, Brooklyn Bounce, Dune, Dr Alban, Vengaboys to mention but a few names of the prominent acts headlining the Total Dance Festival. Date: May 18, 2019.
Gourmet Festival: Millenaris Park with many of Hungary’s top restaurants stalls to offer delicate dishes. This gastronomy festival will also feature excellent wineries, confectioneries of the Hungarian gastronomy scene from both Budapest and the countryside. Date: May 16, 17, 18, 19, 2019
Children’s Day at City Park: The international Children’s Day has been long celebrated in Budapest, and what better place than the biggest park in the city, the City Park? Family friendly event. Dates: 26 May, 2019.
Rosalia – Rosé and Sparkling Wine Budapest Festival in Budapest’s City Park. The annual Rosalia Festival awaits guests with refreshing rosé wines, fizzy spumantes, all served in the relaxing Budapest’s City Park. Enjoy your delicious drinks and the accompanying live jazz music. Date: May 31, June 1, and June 2, 2019.
Brain Bar Budapest advertises itself as the biggest festival of the future, so if you are a futurologist it’s apparently a must see and hear. International and local experts, tradesmen/women try to follow potentially stronger future paths during the festival days in Budapest, Hungary. Renowned thinkers and scientists from all over the world gather in Hungary’s capital for future-focused presentations and debates. Date: 30-31 May 2019
Obuda Day Festival Budapest: The May festival in Obuda is a lovely local festival in the Old Buda town of Budapest, where Roman settlers used to live. The event offers free concerts, street food, drinks and a small crafts market. Date: normally the first weekend of May. not confirmed for 2019 yet
Fitness Day – Budapest FitBody crowd fitness event with loads of great sports and fitness activities. Dates: not confirmed for 2019.
Night of Art Cinemas: the night of Art Movies in Budapest is a long night cinema festival, where a single ticket grants visitors multiple entries to several art movies in the city. It is for one night to many of Budapest’s art cinemas, where movies of different genres screen until sunrise, some with English subtitles or in English. Date: not confirmed for May in 2019 yet.
